– Technical choice of materials and their advantages
Among the materials used in this type of hydraulic work, with regard to the rehabilitation and protection of irrigation channels, membranes with modified bitumen have advantages for this type of use.
The APP ( atatic polypropylene) modified bitumen composite guarantees a better waterproofing and a longer duration compared to other materials.
In addition, the fact that the membrane is reinforced with 180g/m2 polyester reinforcement gives this type of material excellent mechanical strength.
The introduction of an anti-root additive in the manufacturing process will allow roots to be simply repelled during operation, thus avoiding degradation of the membrane, the concrete support and its joints, as well as the deposition of plants on the drainage surface of the channel. The additive in question, introduced into the bituminous mix in manufacture, is perfectly inert and harmless in terms of toxicity.
This membrane has a mass of 5Kg/m2, is available in rolls of 1x8m and its commercial name is POLYSTER R50T Garden.
